Mariposa is an interesting little town with lots of places to eat and a variety of interesting and quirky shops. The locals were friendly and helpful. It is very conveniently located for those wishing to visit Yosemite National Park. The drive on the back roads from El Portal to Mariposa boasts some spectacular views

Mariposa is a nice country town with good range of shops, services and food options for its size (including a supermarket), even in our early spring visiting time. This is due to its proximity to Yosemite NP about 70km away (our reason for visiting). If using the YARTs bus service to access the park its a great base.

Mariposa is about as close you can get to Yosemite without staying in the park, but it's still an hour drive from the valley. This is fine if you're visiting the park for 1 or 2 days, but after 2 days, you'll definitely have had enough of the driving. The town itself is very cute and has tons of nice places to eat. There is also a very large supermarket.

Mariposa is a small town, nothing much to see. We stayed there to visit Yosemite. But Mariposa has no mobile coverage, Had we known that beforehand, we'd have stayed in Yosemite village, inside the park, which has good mobile coverage.

Great little town, very hot in the summer. Near the Yosemite Park entrance that is closest to Yosemite Valley. It is historic with several nice shops and restaurants. Check out The Grove House for a great selection of Micro Brews and great food. Excellent mixed drinks and live music as well! You get all the details you can need for your trip to Yosemite, a delicious home made breakfast and even snacks to take on your hike. The room we stayed in was comfy and had a microwave and a fridge. It was perfectly clean. The location is great, near to Mariposa but secluded enough that you can enjoy the peace and quiet. It truly felt like a home away from home.
